Medicina en general y medicina legal en particular son ramas del conocimiento humano y científico indisolublemente imbricados, pues al igual que las circunstancias que amenazan la vida, integridad psicofísica o la salud del ser humano, evolucionan constantemente, en igual medida ha de hacerlo la medicina y con ello la formación de los profesionales que la imparten desde sus múltiples ramas.

Medicine in general and legal medicine in particular are indissolubly intertwined branches of human and scientific knowledge, because just as the circumstances that threaten life, psychophysical integrity or the health of the human being are constantly evolving, medicine has to do the same to the same extent and with it the training of professionals who teach it from its multiple branches.

Volvemos a mencionar desde este espacio de encuentro un curso ofrecido para médicos forenses de Andalucía en el que al menos un integrante de amplia-mente.com ha participado, y como no podía ser de otra manera, antes de desarrollar la reflexión de hoy, queremos agradecer de manera muy especial al Dr. D. Pedro Javier Mateos Díaz, Médico Forense del Servicio de Clínica Médico Forense del Instituto de Medicina Legal y Ciencias Forenses de Sevilla (IMLYCFSE), su buen hacer en el diseño, realización y puesta en marcha del curso titulado Instituciones, recursos e instrumentos de interés para médicos forenses, impartido entre los días 22 y 24 de octubre de 2019 en el contexto del plan anual de formación de médicos forenses 2019 ofrecido por el Instituto Andaluz de Administración Pública.

We mention again from this meeting space a course offered for forensic doctors of Andalusia in which at least one member of amplia-mente.com has participated, and as it could not be otherwise, before developing today’s reflection, we want to thank Dr. D in a very special way. Pedro Javier Mateos Díaz, Forensic Doctor of the Forensic Medical Clinic Service of the Institute of Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences of Seville (IMLYCFSE), his good work in the design, implementation and implementation of the course entitled Institutions, resources and instruments of interest for forensic doctors, given between 22 and 24 October 2019 in the context of the annual training plan for forensic doctors 2019 offered by the Andalusian Institute of Public Administration.

Amplia y original exposición de temas han sido puestas a disposición de los asistentes. Siempre se ha achacado una relativa endogamia dentro de este tipo de cursos. Forenses enseñando a forenses, no parece la manera mas eficiente de abrir este colectivo a nuevos conocimientos. Del mismo modo, la variedad de campos elegidos para la actualización impartida, ha dotado de gran dinamismo el curso, de modo que en ningún momento se ha llegado a la saturación mental que suelen provocar los cursos monográficos con muchas horas seguidas de docencia dentro de un mismo campo. Todo un acierto el formato elegido.

Extensive and original exposition of subjects have been made available to the assistants. A relative endogamy has always been blamed within this type of courses. Forensics teaching forensics does not seem to be the most efficient way to open this collective to new knowledge. In the same way, the variety of fields chosen for the given update, has endowed of great dynamism the course, so that in no moment has arrived at the mental saturation that the monographic courses usually provoke with many hours followed of teaching within a same field. The chosen format is a great success.

Como es natural, dada la gran variedad de disciplinas que se trabajan en los quehaceres diarios de los Institutos de Medicina Legal españoles, temas tan distintos como discapacidades e invalideces profesionales, patologías oculares y dentales o psiquiatría forense aplicada al delicado campo de las personas mayores, han conseguido que haya habido tantas preferencias sobre determinados temas como asistentes al curso había.

As is natural, given the great variety of disciplines that are worked on in the daily chores of the Spanish Institutes of Legal Medicine, subjects as different as disabilities and professional disabilities, ocular and dental pathologies or forensic psychiatry applied to the delicate field of elderly people, have achieved that there have been as many preferences on certain topics as there were attendees to the course.

Las preferencias en cuanto a elección de temas por quien les escribe no es desconocida por nuestros mas asiduos lectores, pues un importante porcentaje de las elecciones de novedades a exponer en el blog, son relativas, o al menos relacionadas con la psiquiatría forense. Y hoy no va a ser una excepción.

Preferences in terms of choice of topics by those who write to them is not unknown by our most assiduous readers, since a significant percentage of the choices of novelties to expose in the blog, are relative, or at least related to forensic psychiatry. And today is not going to be an exception.

Ha habido psiquiatría forense en el curso. Tras una primera ponencia relativa al ordenamiento jurídico en relación al internamiento de personas mayores, en la que la Juez Dña Elena Pérez Caro, titular del Juzgado de 1ª Instancia e Instrucción de Dos Hermanas en Sevilla, nos ha dejado meridianamente clara la realidad jurídica de los internamientos de mayores en residencias geriátricas; la médica forense Dª Carmen Ana García García, miembro del Servicio de Psiquiatría Forense del IMLYCFSE, nos ha refrescado conocimientos sobre la valoración psiquiátrica y posterior elaboración de informe en referencia a este vulnerable colectivo, dando pie a un debate final en el que los propios asistentes iban desgranando las similitudes y diferencias existentes al respecto en la Comunidad Andaluza.

There has been forensic psychiatry in the course. After a first paper on the legal system in relation to the internment of elderly people, in which Judge Elena Pérez Caro, head of the Court of First Instance and Instruction of Two Sisters in Seville, has made us meridianly clear the legal reality of the internment of elderly people in geriatric homes; The forensic doctor Carmen Ana García García, member of the Forensic Psychiatry Service of the IMLYCFSE, has refreshed our knowledge on the psychiatric assessment and subsequent preparation of a report referring to this vulnerable group, giving rise to a final debate in which the attendees themselves were describing the similarities and differences in this regard in the Andalusian Community.

Personas mayores y vulnerabilidad se podrían considerar en los tiempos que vivimos, conceptos fuertemente relacionados, hecho que podemos objetivar los médicos forenses a tenor del creciente aumento de casos en relación a personas mayores, tanto en la jurisdicción penal como en la civil. El progresivo envejecimiento de la población, inevitablemente se va viendo reflejado en la realidad laboral de la medicina legal.

Older people and vulnerability could be considered in the times we live in, strongly related concepts, a fact that we forensic doctors can objectify in view of the growing number of cases in relation to older people, both in criminal and civil jurisdiction. The progressive ageing of the population is inevitably reflected in the occupational reality of forensic medicine.

Desde amplia-mente.com, como habitualmente hacemos, no queríamos dejar de compartir alguna novedad al respecto de la reflexión del día, por lo que en relación con este delicado tema, queremos dar visibilidad una interesantísima iniciativa de SEMERGEN cuyo objetivo no es otro que estudiar la sospecha de maltrato en las personas mayores, pero con un matiz bastante novedoso, que no es otro que haber incluido en el estudio a personas mayores no institucionalizadas, de modo que creemos que se dotará a los resultados de un mayor acercamiento a la realidad social de este colectivo. Estudio Presencia es el nombre de la iniciativa promovida por SEMERGEN en mayores de 65 años atendidos en atención primaria, ofreciendo datos hasta ahora prácticamente inexistentes, y por tanto dando la oportunidad de aplicar medidas preventivas y en el caso de maltrato sospechado, poder dotar a la víctima de la protección que los distintos ámbitos de la administración le puedan ofrecer. Como podrán comprobar en el enlace anteriormente ofrecido, estimados lectores, el estudio comenzó hace pocos días y se encuentra en plena recogida de datos de campo, esperando llegar al menos a 2000 pacientes para poder ofrecer resultados concluyentes.

From amplia-mente.com, as we usually do, we did not want to stop sharing some novelty regarding the reflection of the day, so in relation to this delicate subject, we want to give visibility to a very interesting initiative of SEMERGEN whose objective is none other than to study the suspicion of mistreatment in the elderly, but with a quite novel nuance, which is none other than to have included in the study non-institutionalized elderly people, so we believe that the results will provide a greater approach to the social reality of this group. Estudio Presencia is the name of the initiative promoted by SEMERGEN in people over 65 years of age attended in primary care, offering data until now practically non-existent, and therefore giving the opportunity to apply preventive measures and in the case of suspected abuse, be able to provide the victim with the protection that the various areas of the administration can offer. As you can see in the link above, dear readers, the study began a few days ago and is in full collection of field data, hoping to reach at least 2000 patients to offer conclusive results.

Derived from the initiative and in spite of being a study openly oriented to the welfare medicine, the forensic doctors of the environment in which the collection of data is carried out, will have a very valuable information to apply in the cases in which Courts or Tribunals must decide cases in which there is a mistreatment to elderly people and/or must apply measures of protection to this group.

Derivado de la iniciativa y a pesar de ser un estudio abiertamente orientado a la medicina asistencial, los médicos forenses del entorno en el que se realiza la recogida de datos, dispondrán de una muy valiosa información a aplicar en los casos en que Juzgados o Tribunales deban dirimir casos en los que exista un maltrato a personas mayores y/o deban aplicar medidas de protección a este colectivo.
