En un artículo publicado por el Dr. Ramos casi al principio de la pandemia, nos hacíamos eco del aumento del precio del cannabis durante el confinamiento, principalmente por las dificultades que se habían creado para su distribución en la calle. Pero hoy nos queremos preguntar por otra vía de distribución, la venta en internet, sobre todo de las nuevas sustancias psicotrópicas (NPS).

But today we want to ask ourselves about another distribution channel, the sale on the Internet, especially of the new psychotropic substances (NPS).

Además del aumento del precio del cannabis, como hemos mencionado anteriormente, también se ha visto un incremento del precio de otras sustancias de abuso, sobre todo de las más consumidas y por tanto las más demandadas, como son la cocaína y la heroína. Debido por un lado a la imposibilidad de cocinarla, dado que la mayoría de los precursores utilizados en esta manipulación proceden de China y las fronteras de este país están cerradas. Pero además la distribución desde sus principales puntos de origen, también está limitada, debido a las tareas de vigilancia de las Fuerzas y Cuerpos de Seguridad del Estado, lo que dificulta que le llegue la sustancia al distribuidor final y por supuesto al consumidor. Esta escasez trae dos consecuencias, por un lado que hay muy poca sustancia en la calle y por lo tanto el precio de la misma se dispara, pero además la que hay está muy cortada, por lo que su pureza ha descendido drásticamente. Esto provocará a largo plazo graves problemas, ya que cuando se restauren los canales habituales de distribución y de nuevo los consumidores puedan contar con cocaína o heroína en la calle, esta será de la pureza habitual y por tanto estarán más expuestos a sufrir reacciones adversas a dosis más elevadas.

Otro fenómeno que se ha detectado durante esta pandemia ha sido el consumo en solitario en los domicilios. Indudablemente, debido al confinamiento, el sujeto no podía salir a la calle a consumir, por lo que este consumo se ha llevado a cabo en la intimidad del domicilio. Esto ha podido ocasionar graves problemas a los consumidores, ya que si se ha producido una reacción adversa, no estaba en compañía de nadie que pudiera advertir dicho efecto y acudir o avisar a los servicios sanitarios, con el consiguiente incremento del riesgo de un desenlace fatal. Por otro lado este consumo en confinamiento ha modificado los patrones de consumo de determinadas personas. Esto es, aquellos individuos acostumbrados a consumir derivados anfetamínicos en las fiestas o en las discotecas para prolongar su disfrute, al no poder acudir a estos eventos, han dejado de consumirla, apreciándose un descenso de la demanda de estas sustancias (MDMA, MDA y metanfetaminas) durante la pandemia.

¿Cuál ha sido la alternativa que han tenido los consumidores ante la escasez de sustancias en la calle y de su alto precio? Pues indudablemente el mercado on-line. Como hemos visto en otras ocasiones, las facilidades que representan la compra y distribución a través de internet de las sustancias de abuso ha ido creciendo progresivamente desde hace años, con lo que ahora mismo, el mercado está totalmente preparado para suministrar al consumidor sus necesidades. Según publica el Observatorio Europeo contra las drogas y las toxicomanías (OEDT), se ha visto un incremento de ventas, sobre todo en el mercado de la Darkweb (aunque no lo han estudiado, pero sospechamos que en la web superficial ha habido la misma tendencia) y el principal producto vendido han sido los cannabinoides sintéticos y algunos derivados de estos, siendo el principal país de venta de estas sustancias Holanda, cuyas empresas parecen actuar como intermediarios en las ventas.

Los autores del informe avisan que la situación está evolucionando rápidamente y, por lo tanto, los mensajes clave expresados en este informe son provisionales y deben interpretarse con cautela.
