Antes del descanso estival en los que a publicaciones de amplia-mente.com se refiere, prácticamente cerrábamos la temporada con un artículo del Dr. Díaz en el que se repasaba el I Encuentro de investigación sobre drogas y adicciones, poniendo bastante énfasis sobre el consumo de alcohol.

Before the summer break in which publications from amplia-mente.com, we practically closed the season with an article by Dr. Diaz in which he reviewed the 1 st Research Meeting on Drugs and Addictions, placing considerable emphasis on alcohol consumption.
Hoy, prácticamente inaugurando nueva temporada, volveremos a mencionar el consumo excesivo de alcohol en un grupo concreto de la población como es el de los universitarios españoles.
Today, practically inaugurating a new season, we will mention again the excessive consumption of alcohol in a specific group of the population such as the Spanish university students.

Este año 2019, concretamente, hemos cumplido seis años de reflexiones sobre medicina en general y medicinal legal en particular. Durante estos seis años de andadura, sí hay un concepto sobre el que hemos insistido hasta la saciedad, es el de la educación.

Educación como integración en el acervo personal toda la experiencia cultural, personal, ética, de todos aquellos que nos precedieron y que junto a la instrucción académica, hacen que nos convirtamos en mejores personas. La represión no funciona si con ello nos saltamos el paso de informar a la población de una manera comprensible y sobre todo real sobre la realidad referente al consumo de sustancias tóxicas.
Education as an integration in the personal wealth all the cultural, personal, ethical experience of all those who preceded us and that together with the academic instruction, make us become better people. Como podemos comprobar en el enlace de Diario Médico (requiere registro) Conductas que universitarios consideran responsables en consumo de alcohol son ya de riesgo, los universitarios españoles muestran tener una distorsión en la percepción del riesgo derivado del consumo de alcohol. El estudio ha sido presentado en la XXXVII Reunión de la Sociedad Española de Epidemiología celebrada en Oviedo entre los días 3 y 6 de septiembre bajo el lema “Epidemiología y Prevención de precisión”.

The study has been presented at the XXXVII Meeting of the Spanish Society of Epidemiology held in Oviedo between 3 and 6 September under the slogan «Epidemiology and Precision Prevention.
El gran problema detectado es que la población universitaria española cree estar consumiendo alcohol (conceptos asimilables al consumo de tabaco y cánnabis, también tratados en la reunión) dentro de unas pautas aceptables, que a día de hoy son manifiestamente perjudiciales para la salud. Los autores del estudio, sospechan que si el universo del estudio hubiese abarcado otros grupos de menor nivel de estudios, el resultado sería aun mas desalentador.
The great problem detected is that the Spanish university population believes that they are consuming alcohol (concepts similar to the consumption of tobacco and cannabis, also discussed at the meeting) within acceptable guidelines, which today are manifestly harmful to health. The authors of the study suspect that if the universe of the study had covered other groups with a lower level of studies, the result would be even more discouraging.
El experto responsable del estudio, Albert Espelt, sostiene que los jóvenes españoles parecen tener una visión del riesgo derivado del consumo de alcohol, que según parece se mete de lleno en el intervalo entre 20 y 40 gramos diario de alcohol que la Organización Mundial de la Salud considera como consumo de riesgo. El universitario medio, considera como consumo responsable una cantidad de bebidas descritas que vienen a suponer unos 26 gramos de alcohol al día, por lo que como hemos mencionado, nos encontraríamos en un rango de consumo de riesgo. Esta percepción de riesgo inexistente, parece muy ligada a los intereses que la industria derivada de la producción y venta del alcohol, iban arraigada en la sociedad occidental del primer mundo.
The study’s expert, Albert Espelt, argues that young Spaniards seem to have a view of the risk of alcohol consumption, which seems to be fully embedded in the range between 20 and 40 grams of alcohol per day that the World Health Organization considers as risk consumption. The average university student, considers as responsible consumption a quantity of described drinks that come to suppose about 26 grams of alcohol a day, reason why as we have mentioned, we would be in a range of consumption of risk. This perception of non-existent risk seems to be closely linked to the interests that the industry derived from the production and sale of alcohol, were rooted in the western society of the first world.

El reto es muy difícil e importante. La sociedad percibe el consumo de alcohol como permisible e incluso deseable. Incluso podríamos traer al tiempo presente algunos estudios, hoy día considerados claramente sesgados, en los que el consumo de cierto tipo de alcoholes era aconsejado desde algunos sectores médicos (concretamente vino tinto en relación a la paradoja francesa). Dichos estudios están, evidentemente, desautorizados a día de hoy tras el estudio de todas las variables que no se introdujeron en las hipótesis iniciales.
The challenge is very difficult and important. Society perceives alcohol consumption as permissible and even desirable. We could even bring to the present time some studies, today considered clearly biased, in which the consumption of certain types of alcohol was advised from some medical sectors (specifically red wine in relation to the French paradox). These studies are, evidently, disallowed today after the study of all the variables that were not introduced in the initial hypotheses.
En una sociedad como la española, con una tradición milenaria de consumo de alcohol anterior a la constitución del estado español como se conoce hoy día, es muy difícil desarraigar la relación entre consumo de alcohol y sociedad.

Desde el punto de vista médico legal, el consumo de alcohol tampoco muestra unas perspectivas asumibles. Accidentes de tráfico, intoxicaciones letales, agresiones, agresiones sexuales por sumisión, etc. son algunos ejemplos de lo que un médico forense se encuentra en los servicios de guardia.
