Saludos, estimados lectores. Un año mas, y ya van unos cuantos, el espacio de reflexión que supone el blog, su blog, nuestro blog, entra en una especie de pausa activa. Tanto nosotros como creemos que ustedes, merecemos un descanso aprovechando la bajada de novedades editoriales durante el periodo estival. Como solemos hacer, mantendremos activa la página publicando de nuevo artículos que Hayan tenido un especial impacto en número de lectores, redes sociales o incluso comentarios en vivo que generan sanos debates en los que todos teminamos aprendiendo de compañeros y compañeras con los que trabaja pos codo con codo a diario.
Las circunstancias que hemos vivido, que aun estamos viviendo, han sido muy especiales. El azar ha querido que quien hoy les escribe acabe de realizar una intervención del servicio de guardia en un hospital. Es triste observar como para la población ya se acabaron los héroes y su admiración a ellos. Vuelven a nuestro centros sanitarios los malos modos, las prisas, las reclamaciones absurdas, etc… a los sanitarios. Si a ello les sumamos la falta de respeto que supone la tácita ignorancia de las medidas higiénicas aconsejadas y prescritas por las autoridades sanitarias nos hace pensar que no hemos aprendido nada de la experiencia vivida.
Es por ello que nos gustaría comenzar con la republicación de un artículo relativamente reciente, que por desgracia parece ser de plena aplicación una vez terminado el estado de alarma.

As we usually do, we will keep the page active by publishing again articles that have had a special impact on the number of readers, social networks or even live comments that generate healthy debates in which we all end up learning from colleagues with whom we work side by side on a daily basis.
The circumstances we have experienced, which we are still experiencing, have been very special. By chance, the person who is writing to you today has just had an intervention by the on-call service in a hospital. It is sad to see how for the population the heroes and their admiration for them have come to an end. Bad manners, haste, absurd complaints, etc… are returning to our health centres. If we add to this the lack of respect that comes from the tacit ignorance of the hygienic measures advised and prescribed by the health authorities, it makes us think that we have learned nothing from the experience.
That is why we would like to begin with the republication of a relatively recent article, which unfortunately seems to be fully applicable once the state of alarm is over.

Permítanme, estimados lectores que comience y titule este artículo parafraseando la canción Malo de la cantante y actriz Bebe, “No se daña a quién se quiere”.

Allow me, dear readers, to begin and title this article by paraphrasing singer and actress Bebe’s song Malo, «No se daña a quien se quiere».
La canción es un himno contra una temática que tenemos muy presente en amplia-mente.com como es la violencia de género. Realmente, se trata de un alegato contra todo tipo de violencia dependiendo de los sentimientos de quien la escuche.
The song is a hymn against a theme that we have very present in amplia-mente.com as is the gender violence. In fact, it is a plea against all kinds of violence depending on the feelings of the listener.
Hoy, al hilo de las circunstancias históricas en las que vivimos inmersos, resuenan en la cabeza de quien les escribe las frases de esa canción al conocer determinadas noticias con las que nos inundan los medios de comunicación. Todo gira en torno a la Covid19 y es normal. Insistimos que se trata de uno de los muchos hitos de la humanidad que se estudiará en los tratados de historia. De nosotros, de todos, dependerá lo que relaten esos libros de historia, porque historia es lo que estamos haciendo día a día ante circunstancias inéditas para la acomodada sociedad actual del mal llamado primero mundo.
Today, following the historical circumstances in which we live immersed, the phrases of this song resound in the head of those who write them when they know certain news with which we are flooded by the media. Everything revolves around the Covid19 and it is normal. We insist that it is one of the many milestones of humanity that will be studied in the history treatises. What those history books tell us will depend on us, on everyone, because history is what we are doing day by day in the face of circumstances that are unprecedented for today’s affluent society of the so-called first world.
Si algo nos está enseñando este virus, es que hasta lo mas pequeño, puede poner de manifiesto que un bien que debería ser universal, como lo es la Salud, no entiende de riquezas o dinero. Este virus ha atacado a todo el planeta por igual. Otra cuestión es cómo terminará la crisis en los distintos territorios económicos del mundo. Mucho nos tememos que en países pobres, no se va a llevar escrupulosamente el recuento, pues bastante tienen con llegar a mañana, aunque si es seguro que será catastrófico para la población, poniendo igualmente sobre la mesa la necesidad de planes mundiales de fomento de la salud y lucha contra la enfermedad, contemplando el planeta como un único y extenso territorio en el que unas zonas trabajen y cuiden de las otras, tal y como pasa en un organismo vivo a través de sus aparatos y sistemas.
If this virus is teaching us anything, it is that even the smallest thing can show that a good that should be universal, such as health, does not understand wealth or money. This virus has attacked the entire planet equally. Another question is how the crisis will end in the different economic territories of the world. We fear that in poor countries, the count will not be carried out scrupulously, since they have enough to do to get to tomorrow, although it is certain that it will be catastrophic for the population, also putting on the table the need for global plans to promote health and fight against disease, contemplating the planet as a single and extensive territory in which some areas work and care for others, as happens in a living organism through its apparatus and systems.

Mucho nos tememos que no será así a tenor de determinadas noticias que llegan estos días desde los medios de comunicación de todo tipo de tendencia. Solo basta ver la manera en que muchos ciudadanos, demasiados, han desoído las claras y sencillas instrucciones ofrecidas para la primera salida de los niños a la calle.
We fear that this will not be the case in light of certain news coming from the media of all kinds of tendencies. It is enough to see the way in which many citizens, too many, have ignored the clear and simple instructions offered for the first departure of children to the streets.
Decíamos que no se daña a quién se quiere. Según observamos, tras la irrupción de la nueva realidad, debemos querer casi como a nuestra familia al personal sanitario. Ningún colectivo ha sido aplaudido a diario antes de esta crisis sanitaria. La población debe adorarlos. ¿Por qué les hacemos daño?
We were saying that you do not harm those you love. As we can see, after the new reality has arrived, we must love the health workers almost as much as our family. No group has been applauded daily before this health crisis. The population must love them. Why are we hurting them?
¿O creen que no?
Or do they think we don’t?
Desgraciadamente, aunque parezca increíble, durante estas semanas de encierro nos hemos encontrado titulares bastante explícitos. De héroes a “apestados”: Una sociedad que acosa a sus médicos no los merece o Pinchan dos ruedas del coche de una enfermera vecina del El Palo, si prefieren algún artículo con un caso concreto en un populoso barrio de Málaga. A mayor abundamiento, por ejemplo, observen el deseo de un sanitario andaluz en “Solo pido que cuando esto acabe no se amenace a los profesionales sanitarios”, que no hace sino reflejar un temor anticipatorio a una situación que probablemente se presentará, a tenor de la experiencia de aquellos que por edad pueden predecir el comportamiento de la ciudadanía una vez a ésta se le olvidan los malos momentos.

No obstante, sí que podemos asegurar que el cien por cien de los sanitarios cambiaría un solo aplauso desde un balcón por unos mínimos de respeto a las profesiones sanitarias tras la vuelta a la llamada “nueva normalidad”.

Y muchos dirán que energúmenos ha habido siempre y “solo” son unos pocos. Dicho esto, ¿consideraríamos maltrato solo a aquellas acciones directas sobre otros, cómo son las que hemos enlazado anteriormente a modo de ejemplo?

Contextualizaremos un poco la situación. Los sanitarios son ya casi el 30% de los nuevos casos de coronavirus. Teniendo en cuenta los recortes sanitarios de unos y el mantenimiento de esos recortes por los otros (cada cual que lo entienda como quiera), ¿como le explicamos a aquellos que van a trabajar durante turnos maratonianos, envueltos de pánico y miedo por si mismos y por sus familias, que a la primera oportunidad que ha habido de acercarnos a la normalidad, como ha sido la apertura a las salidas de niños, muchos ciudadanos se han saltado las normas manifestando públicamente (visto en entrevistas a pie de calle), que lo hacen porque les parecen normas estúpidas?
Let’s put the situation in context. Healthcare workers already account for almost 30% of new cases of coronavirus. Taking into account the cuts in health care for some and the maintenance of these cuts for others (each one who understands it as they wish), how do we explain to those who go to work in marathon shifts, wrapped in panic and fear for themselves and their families, that at the first opportunity to get close to normality, as has been the opening to children’s outings, many citizens have broken the rules by publicly stating (seen in interviews on the street) that they do so because they think they have stupid rules?
Ante la falta de equipos de protección individual, ante el bombardeo de virus en su ambiente laboral por la avalancha de casos o ante algo tan aparentemente nimio para quien no lo ha sufrido, como es el cansancio y la impotencia ante el paciente que vuelve a la fuente por no tener las herramientas para curarlo, ¿el sanitario que ha temido por su vida o el que ha fallecido, se merece que a la primera de cambio aquellos por los que ha luchado, vuelvan a poner en peligro su vida o su salud, despreciando con ello su esfuerzo y entrega?
In the face of the lack of individual protection equipment, in the face of the bombardment of viruses in their work environment due to the avalanche of cases or in the face of something so apparently insignificant for those who have not suffered it, such as tiredness and impotence in the face of the patient who returns to the source because he does not have the tools to cure him, does the health worker who has feared for his life or the one who has died deserve that at the first attempt those for whom he has fought, once again put his life or his health in danger, thus disregarding his effort and dedication?
NO. No rotundo y sin ambages. No se lo merecen.
NO. Not outright and in no uncertain terms. They do not deserve it.
Una persona que no tiene miedo ante un serio y objetivo peligro, o es un imprudente, es un descerebrado, o simplemente no conoce la realidad del peligro al que se enfrenta. Este ultimo caso, es totalmente descartable. Se nos ha explicado hasta la saciedad el peligro y las consecuencias de la exposición al virus. Solo nos quedan dos opciones para aquellos que no tienen miedo, la imprudencia o la estupidez.
A person who is not afraid of a serious and objective danger, or is reckless, is mindless, or simply does not know the reality of the danger he faces. The latter case is totally unheard of. The danger and consequences of exposure to the virus have been explained to us ad nauseam. We are left with only two options for those who are not afraid, recklessness or stupidity.
Los sanitarios, como decíamos van a trabajar con miedo, y aun así se entregan hasta mucho mas allá del deber, pues en el sueldo que perciben no va incluida la entrega de la salud o la vida.
The health workers, as we said, go to work in fear, and yet they give themselves up far beyond the call of duty, because the salary they receive does not include the giving up of their health or their lives.
Y aun así, lo hacen. Es la mejor lección practica de valentía que nadie pueda recibir, pues superando los miedos, siguen en una lucha que no es solo de ellos, sino que lo es de todos. No juguemos con la salud de otros. A mí, particularmente me apena mucho la perdida de una vida, pero si la pérdida es debida a la desobediencia de una tercera persona que temerariamente se salta una norma básica, además me enfada sin medida.
And yet they do. It is the best practical lesson in courage that no one can receive, because overcoming fears, they continue in a struggle that is not only theirs, but that of all. Let us not play with the health of others. I am particularly saddened by the loss of a life, but if the loss is due to the disobedience of a third person who recklessly breaks a basic rule, it also makes me angry beyond measure.
Stay home. Someday we’ll go back to being who we were, but today is not that day.
Quédense en casa. Algún día volveremos a ser los que fuimos, pero hoy no es ese día.
