Con el refrán que da título al artículo de hoy, queremos trasladar una alerta del Centro de Control de Enfermedades de Estados Unidos, en referencia a una serie de efectos adversos detectados tras consumo de cannabinoides sintéticos.

With the saying that gives title to today’s article, we want to move an alert from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, referring to a series of adverse effects detected after consumption of synthetic cannabinoids.

Durante los primeros días del mes de abril de 2018, ha sido detectados en Estados Unidos, una serie de casos de coagulopatías y hemorragias graves en cinco de sus estados. Incluso se han llegado a reportar dos muertes al respecto, como pueden leer en 3 arrested in Chicago in connection to synthetic pot; 2 deaths, 54 others cases of severe bleeding, Two deaths, 54 other cases of severe bleeding tied to fake weed in Illinois o la alerta emitida por el Departamento de Salud Pública de Iowa.

During the first days of the month of April of 2018, a series of cases of coagulopathies and severe hemorrhages in five of its states have been detected in the United States. Tras la detección de los casos, en todos ellos el laboratorio objetivó la presencia de brodifacoum, veneno anticoagulante muy letal, usado legalmente en plaguicidas comerciales, principalmente contra roedores. Ante la negativa de las víctimas respecto a su exposición a plaguicidas o a roedores, los epidemiólogos encontraron como elemento común en todos los afectados el consumo de cannabinoides sintéticos.

Recordemos que los distintos cannabinoides sintéticos conocidos, suelen presentarse como un irrigado sobre hierbas aromáticas, de modo que tras ese pulverizado líquido sobre picadura de plantas que el consumidor fumará, se produce una absorción por vía pulmonar. La hipótesis de trabajo de los epidemiólogos que están trabajando en el caso, es que el brodifacoum se ha añadido por contaminación.
