El verano es época de descanso y diversión. Es el periodo del año en que nos desintoxicamos de la vorágine en que nos sumerge el estilo de vida actual. Desgraciadamente y como en todas las facetas del ser humano, también el verano nos muestra su lado oscuro en forma de excesos y potenciales riesgos para la salud durante largas jornadas de una pretendida diversión en la que el consumo de sustancias estupefacientes es una realidad cotidiana en ciertos sectores. Compartimos un artículo publicado en febrero sobre la tormentosa relación entre los cannabinoides sintéticos y la prensa no especializada.
Los cannabinoides sintéticos no son una nueva amenaza
Vuelve a suceder que medios de comunicación ofrecen como novedosa una información que no lo es tanto, produciendo alarma social por una parte y desvirtuando la realidad, por otra; tal y como reflejábamos en un artículo que publicamos hace bastantes meses titulado “Desinformación” en los medios de información.

En esta ocasión, la noticia parte de un titular algo ambiguo en la prensa especializada que a su vez se origina en una información no muy exacta transmitida en la XII Jornada de Actualización en Toxicología celebrada el pasado 3 de febrero de 2017 en la sede de la Academia de las Ciencias Médicas de Cataluña y Baleares en la que se comunica que “Los cannabinoides sintéticos son una nueva amenaza para los servicios de Urgencias” avisando a los profesionales de la salud que “deben estar atentos a la llegada de los cannabinoides sintéticos, una nueva droga mas potente que el cánnabis natural al que imita, asequible ya desde Internet.”

Quizá esta exposición mediática pueda servir como toque de atención a los responsables gubernamentales para afrontar seriamente el tema y dotar a los profesionales de la salud de medios diagnósticos para estas “nuevas” sustancias, las cuales no cuentan con las pertinentes baterías analíticas en los servicios de urgencias para su detección y en aquellos casos de ingresos por su consumo, no han podido ser captadas en base a la inexistencia de medios materiales para hacerlo.

Indudablemente, las drogas consumidas con fines recreativos, también cambian ¿Por que no se adaptan los medios de evitar las consecuencias negativas de estas sustancias a la realidad de la tremenda evolución social en la que vivimos inmersos?
Sin duda es un tema para reflexionar y para tratar en riguroso presente, pues no se trata de un tema que haya que alertar por que se prevea una inminente llegada, sino que lleva años con nosotros.
