El Observatorio Europeo de Drogas y Toxicomanías, punto de referencia en materia de drogas y sus adicciones, ha publicado en su quinta nota de prensa del año 2015, y en relación al día que hoy se conmemora, un comunicado titulado Las ciudades europeas ofrecen una valiosa ventana de observación sobre las nuevas tendencias de las drogas.

En dicho comunicado, se valora como área de estudio la gran urbanización y densidad de población urbana del viejo continente. En el estudio, se toman como referencia las principales ciudades europeas para la observación de las nuevas tendencias de consumo para que las medidas políticas y administrativas que se planifiquen, lo hagan sobre una base real y por tanto eficiente.
In the press release, is valued as area of study the great urbanization and urban population density of the old continent. In the study, are taken as reference the main european cities for the observation of the new trends in consumption to the political and administrative measures that are planned, do so on a real basis and therefore efficient.
Cuatro puntos principales son lo tratados en el comunicado para llevar a cabo el estudio. Espacios urbanos y consumo de drogas, locales de ocio y uso de drogas recreativas, políticas sobre drogas en las ciudades y coordinación /financiación de las políticas.

En lo referente a los espacios urbanos, se dibuja un escenario muy heterogéneo de unas ciudades a otras o incluso dentro de las mismas. Como elemento común, encontramos las politoxicomanías, los problemas de salud asociados al consumo o los problemas legales acompañantes a este consumo de sustancias que cuyo tráfico es ilícito.

Según se desprende de la lectura y asimilación del comunicado del Observatorio, parece que incidiendo en focos de atención hasta ahora algo desatendidos.
