Envases con Nuevas sustancias psicotrópicas o Legal Highs
A lo largo de estos dos últimos años hemos publicado abundantes artÃculos haciendo referencia a las Nuevas Sustancias Psicoactivas (NPS), pero muchas veces puede surgir la duda de si la expansión de estas sustancias entre nuestros jóvenes es tan importante y alarmante como propugnamos.

Over the last two years we have published many articles referring to the New Psychoactive Substances (NPS), but often can arise the question of whether the expansion of these substances among our youth is so important and alarming as advocate.
A la pregunta del tÃtulo de nuestro post, no nos queda más remedio que decir que sÃ. No solo es alarmante si no que la expansión de todas estas sustancias entre nuestros jóvenes es cada vez mayor. No solo por su variedad, sino por la accesibilidad a las mismas. No nos cansamos de decir que todos tenemos en nuestras manos el instrumento necesario para  obtener una dosis de cualquiera de ellas, nuestro teléfono móvil con conexión a internet.

Según el último informe del Observatorio Europeo contra la Drogadicción y las drogas de abuso (OED) el 3% de los jóvenes europeos entre 15 y 24 años han consumido alguna de estas sustancias en el último año y el 8% de ellos lo han consumido alguna vez en su vida. Además se alerta que posiblemente se estén probando nuevas sustancias en jóvenes, como si estos fueran conejillos de indias, sin que sepan que es lo que están consumiendo y vendiéndolas bajo otro nombre u otro compuesto, y estudiando sus respuestas para lanzarla posteriormente al mercado. Por otro lado se ha constatado que el 60% de todas las sustancias incautadas en Europa corresponden a sustancias derivadas de los cannabinoides sintéticos. Y por último, en el año 2015 se han llegado a identificar hasta 98 sustancias nuevas y distintas que han sido introducidas en el mercado de las NPS. En total se conocen 560 nuevas sustancias (380 de ellas han sido descritas entre 2010 y 2015), lo que supone más del triple de las sustancias conocidas e incluidas en las listas de psicotrópicas o estupefacientes.

Que supone que el 3% de los jóvenes europeos consuman esta sustancia, ¿es eso mucho? o por el contrario ¿es poco? ¿Es grave este aumento del consumo detectado por las autoridades?, ¿son muchas 98 sustancias nuevas?, ¿o quizás sean pocas? No se me ocurre como responderles, para mà creo que la situación es alarmante y cada vez va a más. Pero como en muchos casos, va la Guardia Civil y lleva a cabo una operación en nuestro paÃs (en concreto en AlmerÃa y en Alicante), la «Operación Alimaya» y la «Operación Koroway», donde se han incautado más de 150.000 paquetes con estas sustancias. Por si no llegan a apreciar la gravedad del caso, les dejo un vÃdeo grabado por los miembros de las fuerzas públicas durante dicha intervención.

Como pueden ustedes mismos, la variedad de las sustancias es abrumadora, puestas en circulación supondrÃan más de 300.000 dosis de consumo. Lo que da un poco de reparo es escuchar la rueda de prensa posterior a esta incautación, con la participación de las autoridades que han participado en dichas incautaciones y de los responsables del gobierno en relación a la lucha contra las drogas. Parecen que están descubriendo «la pólvora» cuando hablan de las NPS, cuando algunos estamos llamando su atención desde hace años. ¿Ahora quieren ustedes poner freno a este problema? ¿Ahora se plantean buscar soluciones? Como siempre creo que llegan tarde y todo por no oÃr lo que algunos les estábamos advirtiendo desde hace años. Ahora señores puede que sea tarde. Seguiremos atentos.
