No se vayan, estimados lectores. A pesar del título de hoy, no vamos a hablar de mitología o de religión. Hablaremos hoy de violencia contra la mujer. La violencia de género que nos muestran los medios de comunicación, es la punta del iceberg. Hoy les mostraremos aspectos de la misma relativamente desconocidos por el grueso de la Sociedad.

Don’t leave, dear readers. In spite of the title today, we are not going to talk about mythology or religion. Today we will talk of violence against women. Gender-based violence that show us the means of communication, is the tip of the iceberg. Today we will show them aspects of the same relatively unknown by the bulk of society.
¿Qué queremos decir con esta afirmación? Cada vez que se comunica una noticia al respecto, generalmente es porque ha habido una mujer muerta a manos de su pareja, y esta es solo la punta del iceberg del problema. Todos los medios de comunicación, en los últimos días de diciembre hacen balance del numero de fallecidas por violencia de género. Cincuenta y cuatro fueron las mujeres que perdieron la vida en España a manos de la persona con la que habían elegido compartir la vida.
What do we mean by this statement? Each time that communicates a news in this regard, it is usually because there has been a woman dead at the hands of their partner, and this is only the tip of the iceberg of the problem. All media, in the last days of December they balance the number of deaths resulting from gender-based violence. Fifty-four were the women who lost their lives in Spain at the hands of the person with whom they had chosen share life.
Si escalofriante es esa cifra, no menos escandalosa es la cifra de 126.742 denuncias presentadas en 2014 por violencia de género. ¿Qué queremos decir con esto? Pues algo tan sencillo como que la inmensa mayoría de víctimas de violencia de género no sale en los noticieros, y eso solo contando con aquellas que denuncian, pues tan y como afloran los datos cada vez que se produce una muerte, un elevado porcentaje de mujeres maltratadas por sus parejas no denuncia su caso.
If chiling is that figure, no less outrageous is the figure of 126,742 complaints filed in 2014 by gender-based violence. What do we mean by that? Como comprenderán nuestros estimados lectores, detrás de la insistencia de que los casos sufridos, por leves que sean, sean denunciados, existe todo un trabajo de prevención y contención de los profesionales implicados para que la víctima no vuelva a sufrir nuevas agresiones. En ello están implicados los distintos cuerpos y fuerzas de seguridad existente en el país, ya sean de ámbito nacional, autonómico o local. ¿Qué opinan las mujeres protegidas de este seguimiento?
As you can understand our dear readers, behind the insistence that the cases suffered, however slight, are reported, there is a whole work of prevention and containment of the involved professionals to ensure that the victim is not back of further attacks. Satisfacción de las víctimas de violencia de género con la actuación policial en España. Validación de VioGen, es un interesante estudio realizado por miembros de la Unidad Técnica de Policía Judicial de la Guardia Civil de España, apoyado por el Colegio Oficial de Psicólogos de Madrid. En este artículo, publicado en Open Access se analiza el grado de satisfacción de aquellas mujeres que son protegidas policialmente, a fin de valorar la eficacia del Sistema de Seguimiento Integral del Ministerio del Interior (VioGen) en casos de víctimas de violencia de género. El 80%de las encuestadas, manifestó estar muy satisfechas con la actuación policial, con independencia del cuerpo que preste la protección.
Gender-based violence victims’ satisfaction with police performance in Spain. Validation of VioGen, is an interesting study conducted by members of the Technical Unit of the Judicial Police of the Guardia Civil in Spain, supported by the Official College of psychologists of Madrid. In this article, published in Open Access discusses the degree of satisfaction of those women who are protected policing sense, in order to evaluate the effectiveness of the System of Integrated Follow-up to the Ministry of the Interior (VioGen) in cases of victims of gender-based violence. The 80% of those surveyed, said are very satisfied with the police action, with independence of the force to provide protection.
VioGen, es una aplicación informática que integra en una sola base de datos, los hechos y circunstancias en torno a la víctima de violencia de género que está a disposición de todas las instituciones que luchan contra esta lacra a fin de agilizar el acceso a la información evitando duplicidades de actuación en unos casos o pérdida de cobertura en la protección en otros. Entre sus funciones está el cálculo del riesgo de nuevos episodios de violencia para así aplicar las medidas de protección necesarias y oportunas según el caso. Por supuesto el ámbito que abarca la aplicación es nacional y sin restricciones según haya o no transferidas competencias de Justicia y/o Interior al organismo que pretende hacer uso del sistema. Es preciso reseñar, que la policía autónoma de Euskadi (Ertzaitza) no se ha incorporado al VioGen, usando protocolos propios de valoración del riesgo y protección.

Tras el pertinente estudio estadístico una vez recogidos los datos y la discusión científica generada, se aprecia una muy buena opinión de las usuarias de esta protección, hasta el punto de ser calificada al máximo de satisfacción por 8 de cada 10 mujeres protegidas. El estudio ha sido hecho sobre pocos casos en comparación con el número total de denuncias planteadas, pero a pesar de ello es concluyente y marca el camino a seguir.

Desde estas líneas, no podemos mas que felicitar a todas aquellas personas que han hecho posible la realidad de VioGen y animarles a seguir haciendo una labor tan útil y generosa para nuestra Sociedad. Esperamos que el conocimiento de este tipo de herramientas convenza al fin a todas aquellas mujeres que sufriendo en si mismas el peso de la violencia de género, no han dado aun el paso de denunciar por cualquier razón. Los organismos judiciales y policiales, no podrán hacer nada si estas propias mujeres no les ayudan a trabajar a su servicio, dando conocimiento de su situación.
From these lines, we can only congratulate to all those people who have made possible the reality of VioGen and encourage them to continue to make a very useful work and generous to our society. We hope that the knowledge of this type of tools will persuade the end to all those women who suffer in themselves the weight of the gender-based violence, have not yet given the step to denounce for any reason. The law-enforcement agencies, they can do nothing if these women themselves do not help them to work at their service, giving knowledge of your situation.
Therefore the question arises, how many of the deaths (those that both interest to the media) would have been avoided if the victims had been welcomed to the System of Integrated Follow-up to the Ministry of the Interior?
