A veces durante la realización de la autopsia, nos encontramos con lesiones excoriativas que pueden ocupar grandes extensiones de la piel del cadáver y que pueden presentar el aspecto de severas ulceraciones. Y ¿a qué se deben estas lesiones?

Estas lesiones a las que hacemos referencia hoy en nuestro blog, amplia-mente.com, se tratan de lesiones por mordeduras de hormigas. Estos insectos son los únicos que pueden atacar al cadáver sin que se hayan iniciado los procesos de descomposición cadavérico y por tanto quedarían fuera de la fauna cadavérica encargada de la descomposición del mismo. Las hormigas, son omnipresentes en todos los biosistemas, por lo que pueden acceder en cualquier momento al cadáver, tanto es así que en muchas ocasiones van a provocar lesiones que pueden llevar a la confusión al Médico Forense y habrá que establecer el diagnóstico diferencial con otras lesiones.

Estas lesiones no van a presentar signos de vitalidad y habitualmente por desecación de la piel lesionada y expuesta suelen tender al apergaminamiento de la misma. Por tanto el aspecto final que van a tener es el de grandes placas excoriativas-ulcerativas, con fondo apergaminado en las zonas expuestas del cadáver y sin signos de vitalidad. Habría que establecer diagnóstico diferencial con quemaduras, con placas excoriativas por abrasión o con lesiones por sustancias químicas. Se han descrito casos en los que las lesiones por las hormigas asientan en los pliegues del cuello y han obligado a establecer el diagnóstico diferencial con un surco de ahorcadura.

Así en el caso que se presenta vemos como tras retirar la ropa del cadáver, después de haber fallecido, queda perfectamente marcada la línea de separación de la ropa por debajo de la cual no se han producido lesiones de las hormigas. Así mismo en las zonas de presión del cadáver, es decir, aquellas zonas sobre las que el cadáver ha estado depositado en el suelo o la superficie sobre la que haya fallecido, no se van a producir lesiones por mordeduras de hormigas, así que si el cadáver es movido postmorten, se van a diferenciar claramente las zonas de apoyo y las zonas de no apoyo en base a la existencia o no de lesiones por mordedura de hormigas.
